March Australian cotton exports decline

In March 2014, Australian cotton exports fell 65.5% year-on-year to only 19 million Australian dollars, the lowest level for the same period in the past nine years. As of March this year, Australian cotton exports totaled 1.2 billion Australian dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 21.6%. The market expects the Australian cotton export to resume in April-May, but it is also difficult to reverse the fate of the decline. It is expected that the export volume of Australian cotton this year will hit the lowest record in three years. At present, the USDA's forecast for Australian cotton exports this year is 980,000 tons, a decrease of 370,000 tons year-on-year, basically in line with market conditions.
